Peter Clarke was a tireless and passionate advocate for the rights and interests of children and young people. As the first Children’s Commissioner for Wales he showed courage, tenacity, authority and compassion. Peter ensured that the voices of children and young people were at the heart of all he did and made it his mission to get those voices heard where previously they had fallen on deaf ears. It was a privilege to have had the opportunity to work with him. Peter's advice, guidance and support were invaluable when I took on the role of Children's Commissioner for England and his death is a great loss to all of us who strive to improve the lives of children and young people across the UK
